Stephanie's story is not just about one woman becoming the first person of colour to be President of the Law Society of England and Wales. It’s about resilience. It’s about community. It’s about injustice, and the power of persistence in the face of systems that are not always made for you. It’s about making space and leaving the door open behind you so others can follow. Its about a realisation that every door is open if you PUSH: Persevere Until Something Happens.
Growing up, Stephanie saw firsthand the challenges shaped by barriers of race, class, and expectation. Her family’s sacrifices, resilience, and dreams for a better life were ever-present. But so too were the obstacles, the silent ceilings of expectation, the coded language of exclusion, and daily reminders that the path would not be easy. Yet, even in the face of adversity, Stephanie learned the power of self-belief and that self-worth is not defined by circumstance, but in how you choose to show up.
