About Dr I. Stephanie Boyce CBE FKC


Dr I. Stephanie Boyce CBE FKC is a solicitor, public leader, chair and trusted advisor with more than twenty years’ experience at the intersection of law, leadership and public service.
As the 177th President of the Law Society of England and Wales, she became the first person of colour and the first Black President in the Society’s history, representing more than 200,000 solicitors during one of the most challenging periods in recent times. Her presidency was marked by leadership through uncertainty, advocacy for access to justice, support for the legal profession and a commitment to improving diversity, inclusion and social mobility.
Today, Stephanie works with organisations, boards and senior leaders on issues of leadership, governance, organisational culture, institutional trust and social impact. She is a sought-after speaker and advisor, bringing practical insight gained through senior leadership roles across the legal, charitable and public sectors.
Stephanie currently serves as Chair of The Solicitors’ Charity, is a Commissioner of the National Preparedness Commission and a Board Member of JUSTICE. She has held numerous leadership and governance positions and continues to contribute to public life through advisory, charitable and civic appointments.
Awarded a CBE for services to the legal profession, diversity and access to justice, Stephanie is recognised as one of the United Kingdom’s leading voices on leadership, social mobility and the future of the legal profession.
Raised on a council estate by a single mother, Stephanie’s journey has shaped her enduring belief that talent is universal but opportunity is not. Her personal experience informs her commitment to widening access, championing fairness and ensuring that institutions work for everyone. She is determined to make a world of positive difference.
